5000 and #1

Today we headed out to find our 5000th cache. Three and a half years from the time we found our first cache. How amazing is that!!

We selected Don’s Revenge (GC14BXC), a cache in Roseville, planted by a friend. It was a 5 stage multi and everything we had heard about it made us think it would be fun yet challenging. It certainly was! Linda and Larry (L3-Geo) tagged along with us to point and laugh and yes to give us a hint if we needed one. At the first stage we found two dummies before pulling out our extraction tool and finally finding the coords to the next stage. At the second stage we searched and searched and finally had to ask for a clue. L&L gave us the clue Don had given them. We searched some more and came up with the prize. Now we were getting the hang of Don’s hides so we went right to the third stage and found it quickly. The fourth stage again needed an extraction tool and even with that it took us 6 tries to recover the info. Now on to the final stage. This stage we found quickly after first identifying another dummy cache. We signed the log and officially had our 5000th find. Now on to the next 5000!!

As if that wasn’t reward enough, we are also #1 in the state of Nevada.
